Course Description

The BOHS IP402 – Surveying and Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings course provides a range of theory and practical knowledge for those wishing to undertake asbestos building surveys.
Candidates for this course are expected to be aware of the contents of HSG264 Asbestos: The survey guide and have a minimum of six months prior experience of carrying out asbestos surveys. This qualification is useful for both experienced and relative newcomers to asbestos surveying as proof of a basic knowledge base.

Course Contents

  • Classroom tutorials cover the following topics
  • What is asbestos?
  • Health effects
  • Legislation – asbestos and non-asbestos
  • Asbestos in buildings
  • Surveys and management of asbestos in buildings
  • General guidance on management procedures necessary to minimise exposure to identified asbestos

  • Practical sessions for the training will guide delegates through the various bulk sampling techniques employed during asbestos surveying.

    The course culminates in a 2hr written exam and 2hr written practical exam on the final day which is formulated and administered by BOHS. Candidates must pass both the written and written practical assessments to be awarded the BOHS IP402 – Surveying and Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings Training Course certificate.
